Our Mission
We inspire, protect and connect our members in the rental housing industry through superior advocacy, education, and engagement.
The Apartment Association of Kansas City was established in 1974 to serve the apartment industry along with the National Apartment Association and the Kansas and Missouri association. Together we provide legislative insight on a local, state and national level. We serve 1,271 members consisting of apartment property owners, developers, managers and member communities. We represent 768 apartment communities and 189 management companies that total over 124,200 units. Also included are 314 Supplier Partners who provide products and services to our industry.
Together, our members contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to the state's economy through taxes, fees, construction and purchases from advertising to utilities.
Richard C. Wiles is our state lobbyist in Missouri. Mr. Wiles keeps members in the state informed of issues brought before the legislature, which will effect property owners throughout the state. In Kansas, we watch out through our NAA affiliates and our NAA Legislative Committee keeping owners up to date on legislative issues.
Jason Grill joined AAKC as our local Government Affairs Director in 2019. Jason works with Dick Wiles and the National Apartment Association on all local, state and national legislative issues for the apartment industry.
